Hawaii vs. Florida Football Match-up

Hawaii Football LogoSometimes you get what you ask for and that is not always good! The undefeated regular season was remarkable for Hawaii in 2007. They blew out most of their opponents. That was the good news. The bad news is they went to the Sugar Bowl and played their first truly ranked team and got killed by the Georgia Bulldogs. Hawaii was beating badly 42-10 in a game that could have really gotten much worse.

During the regular season Hawaii asked to play better competition. Well, in 2008 they are getting their wish during what is obviously a rebuilding year. Hawaii has a first year head coach and Colt Brennan is of to play in the NFL. Additionally, they lost a lot of seniors in key positions that will hurt them this year.

On 30 August, Hawaii will travel to Florida and play a team that will be ranked in the top 5 in the nation. They will take on last years Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and a Florida team ranked in the top 5 in the nation. A Florida win by 30 or more is very likely. Sometimes in football you get what you ask for, it just comes a year later when you are not as prepared to live up to the challenge.

Colt Brennan 2008 NFL Draft

Colt Brennan will call Washington his home for the foreseeable future. Colt was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft. H e was selected 186th overall or the 20th pick of the sixth round.

This pick is great for Colt as the Washington Redskins do not have a franchise quarterback and he will be given every opportunity to play. If he were drafted by the Colts or Patriots he would be sitting the bench for most of his career.

Hawaii Smoke Free Law

According to KGMB9, the vast majority (74%) of Hawaii residents are in favor of the recent “Smoke Free Law.”

An overwhelming majority of Hawaii residents support the Smoke-Free law, according to a survey commissioned by the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawaii (CTFH). Fifteen months after the Smoke-Free law took effect, support for Hawaii’s Smoke-Free Law continues to increase. According to study results from Ward Research, nearly three-quarters (74 percent) of Hawaii residents strongly favor the Smoke-Free Law. This represents an increase of eight percent from initial survey results recorded in February 2007.

What does the Smoke Free Law mean in Hawaii?

Under Hawaii’s law all enclosed and partially enclosed workplaces are now smoke-free, including bars, nightclubs, airports and shopping malls.

As a non-smoker I’m in favor of a law like this. I know this is a sore subject for smokers, especially for those that frequent bars and clubs were smokers smoke the most. Smoke Free Laws are a growing trend in America with 24 other states passing a Smoke Free Law.
