Hawaii Night Club Review - Club Pearl Ultra Lounge (Ala Moana Center)

5:42 pm Hawaii Night Club Reviews

Pearl Night Club and Lounge HawaiiThe Basics
Pearl Ultra Lounge is by far one of the nicer night clubs on Oahu, Hawaii in downtown Honolulu/Waikiki. Pearl Lounge opened its doors in Jan, 2006. Pearl’s owner spent an estimated $2.2 million setting up the night club and it looks like it. Pearl features two main bars and a smaller bar just in front of the stage where live music is found almost nightly. Friday and Saturday nights are by far the most busy nights, but you can find great entertainment any day of the week.

You will want to dress nice to get into Pearl as there is a strict dress code. Additionally, almost every patron dresses very nice, so dress up if you want to blend in! Pearl does server a limited amount of small meals, but I would not plan your dinner at Pearl. To find out what is going on check out Pearl’s calendar of events.

Cover Charge
Since there is always a band, the cover can be as high as $20 on Friday nights and $10 on Saturdays.

Parking
There is plenty of parking in the parking garage south of the Ala Moana hotel. It is open to the public at no charge. Park on the third level, south side and Pearl is easy to spot.

Demographics
Pearl Night Club and Lounge
I would estimate that the average patron is 22-28 years old. You will find a lot of university students and Japanese tourists.

Dress Code
The minimum requirement is a collared-shirt, pants/jeans and covered shoes. I would not recommend wearing the bear minimum. It is recommended that you wear a colored-shirt, a pair of dress pants or a nice pair of jeans. No casual wear!

Tips
Come early if you want a seat. The club doesn’t really pick up until 10 PM. Females will have an easy time getting into Pearl after 11:30 PM, but guys may get stuck in line. I can’t state this strongly enough; if you are a guy, show up before 11 PM or you may get stuck in line for 1 hour or more. When Pearl starts to get full, the hostess/host starts to cherry pick the line and bring in only females. This is great for the guys already in the club!

Pearl is the WORST club that I have ever been to!!!!!

-The bouncers have the biggest attitudes and treat you like crap.
-They discriminate against locals and will turn you away because of their own made-up rules like you have to wear all black dress shoes. But they’ll let in tourists with t-shirts and white aides tennis shoes because they assume that they will spend tons of money.
-The service is so SLOW! There were hardly any people at the bar and they still took 10 minutes to notice us and serve us.
    -Drinks were weak and expensive.
-People that actually go there are of the older generation (40-50’s) and looking to get with young 20-yr old girls…gross.
-Music was bad, a mix of random techno and 90’s hip hop.

***You should not go to Pearl ever! It’s the worst $10 I ever spent. There are tons of places that you could go instead…Oceans 808, Bonsai, Tsukiji’s, even the Living Room is better….
